CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals
In honor of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee year, 60 000 deserving Canadians will be recognized with medals for their achievements and contributions to their communities.
Member of Parliament Joyce Murray has been allocated 30 Diamond Jubilee Medals to award to outstanding citizens in Vancouver Quadra. Medal recipients will be selected by a committee of community leaders, and honored at a celebration ceremony to be held at the end of 2012.
MP Murray invites you to nominate a candidate to receive the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. The medal will be awarded to constituents of Vancouver Quadra Electoral District (map) or to those who have made a significant contribution in the electoral district. To qualify for the medal, a person…
•must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, but need not necessarily reside in Canada;
•must have made a significant contribution in our community; and
•must have been alive on February 6, 2012, the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty’s accession to the throne. (The medal can be awarded posthumously.)
Nomination Guidelines
To nominate someone, please write a letter that provides the following details:
•mailing address, email and phone number of both Nominee and Nominator
•nominee’s achievements and sustained contributions to the building of Canada;
•how the nominee’s contributions have distinguished them from others in their field;
•nominee’s residency in or the connection of their contributions to Vancouver Quadra.

Selection Process
Joyce Murray has appointed a Selection Committee consisting of community leaders, chaired by Penny Bain, a retired lawyer and service provider. The Selection Committee will review all nominations that are received by the MP’s Constituency Office by August 31, 2012. The names of the recipients selected by the Committee will be submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General for validation. The medals will be awarded at a ceremony to be held in Vancouver Quadra in late Fall, 2012.
